Buster Bunny Cel -- Tiny Toon Adventures

Buster Bunny

One of my favorite cels of Buster.  Can you name the episode?  Do you remember the scene?  Do you know which studio animated this episode?

Acme Looniversity team colors (including their varsity jackets) matched the colors of my home town team, Metuchen High School (Metuchen, New Jersey).

  1. Though I probably forgot the episode right about now, I'm torn whether this was Akom or Wang here, it's been years since I've last seen this show. Nice that your school colors were used here.

  2. "The Acme Bowl" - the bonfire scene - Kennedy?

    Buster sure looks excited, lol.

  3. Peter, you are correct.
And Anonymous, you hit the trifecta. Yes, yes, and yes. Nice job!

  4. I know you haven't asked about it, Tom, but, just as a bonus answer, I also recognize Tom Minton's drawing style on the cell. Incidentally, greetings from Piscataway! Yes, that's right, I'm just a stone's throw away from your hometown!

  5. Not meaning to contradict, but the cel is neither Tom Minton's drawing nor his drawing style. "They went Piscataway!"

  6. Yeah the campfire is a trademark scene from Acme Bowl in my book.
Didn't Chicago's StarToons animate a bunch of scenes in this episode too? I recall the two studios teaming up in a bunch of episodes (Buster and the Wolverine, Who Bopped Bugs Bunny off the top of my head)

  7. I know that Jon McClenahan and Startoons worked with Glen even before I knew that they were working with Glen. I was not aware of Jon and Startoons' involvement until Glen left the show. Jon came to LA to try to line up some work for Startoons and, after he was turned down by an exec (not me) at Warner Bros. Animation, I happened to bump into him in the elevator as he was leaving, we talked, and he didn't leave after all. (The first time I noted Jon's great work: some top-notch scenes he animated of Whopper on Pound Puppies year before while he lived in Australia.)

  8. I love Acme Loo's school sportswear. I wore those same colours at my school.

May I ask a few questions.

    1. Am I right that this couple http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu78/FATtimon/whoarethey.png are called Lloyd & Bernice?
    2. What are these cats called? http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu78/FATtimon/whoarethey2.png ?
    3. Does this sibling of Babs Bunny have a name? http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu78/FATtimon/babssis.jpg

  9. Babs: without doing some research, I cannot answer these 3 questions. I know the stupid looking cat is based on a cat design from an old Clampett cartoon.

  10. Who are Buster & Babs parodying when they are the Vanderbunnys?

  11. Good question. I think it's a mix of all fabulously wealthy and somewhat snooty couples. I know there's a bit of Thurston and Lovey Howell in there. Plus some Robin Leach, who hosted Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. I know the Vanderbunny name was inspired by the Vanderbilts and a college friend named Barb (Babs) Vanderwhiel. Anyone else have thoughts on what real people, characters or performers influence Babs and Buster's Vanderbunny personas?
