R.I.P. Kenny Mars

(Left to right) Gene Wilder, Kenny Mars, Zero Mostel in "The Producers" (1968)

Beloved comic actor Kenny Mars has passed away at the age of 75.  Perhaps most famous for his roles in comedy classics like "The Producers" and "Young Frankenstein, Kenny made a lasting impression in cartoon comedy as the voice of Beethoven in "Animaniacs" and the voice of  Dr. Gunther Hunterhanker in "Freakazoid."

As Beethoven, Kenny will always remain one of the world's greatest "pianists."

  1. :( He was a great character actor, and I loved his bits on Animaniacs and Freakazoid. I even started watching "Malcolm in the Middle" just because I'd heard he had a recurring role on the show.

    He will be missed.

  2. R.I.P. Kenny Mars, you'll be missed...:(

  3. I was shocked to find out he was King Triton. He turned off his accent pretty effectively.

  4. Especially when you consider he was born in Chicago! I remember him from the "ABC Comedy News" (1973-1974), a satire of the then-new "happy talk news" format, where he starred alongside Stan Freberg (and Orville!), Anthony Holland, and others. No accent (although he DID sound a bit like Ted Baxter!).

    Thought for the day:
"A riot iss an ugly thing... und I think it iss
just about time that we HAD one!" - K.M., Young Frankenstein.

    RIP, Kenny. We'll miss you.
