The Nostalgia Critic, the Warners, and Animaniacs

Sometime over the next few days, That Guy with the Glasses, AKA the Nostalgia Critic, will be posting  interviews he conducted with a few of the folks who worked on "Animaniacs."

To celebrate this auspicious event, Cartoonatics is proud to post an image from what is believed to be the Nostalgia Critic's favorite Yakko, Wakko and Dot cartoon:  "Hooked on a Ceiling."

  1. I think it will be uploaded tonight, it's not time for his usual update just yet.

I heard that was his favorite episode, as well as his brother's I believe. His brother also really enjoyed the episode of Pinky and the Brain where the Brain turns his head into a large cheese at the end.
    "I feel strange... almost... dairy-like..."
"Can I get you anything? A cracker? AHAHAHA Cracker!!"

  4. I was just informed of what may be an amazing coincidence to this: The day when us older fans met you guys at WBA... was exactly 15 years ago today. I really doubt the Critic would know this, as he's too young to have been aware of it (and even I had forgotten the exact date; I thought it was in June), so I'm thinking it's just an astounding coincidence.

  7. That was simply amazing. Kudos to you and friends for pulling that all together. And I hope this vulture idea gets off the ground (also, as someone pointed out, Home Movies was an improv'd cartoon, so you wouldn't be the first).

Wish I could grow Emmys. What fertilizer do you use? Tina Fey's?

  8. The fertilizer is loaded with bull-uh, you know.

Just watched a clip from "Home Movie." It looks and feels scripted to me.

And the clip I watched wasn't actually funny...which is most definitely the point we're driving at: funny. If people say it's improv, but it's not funny, then it should be called something else: talking.

  9. Home Movies was an ok show, not the sense of humor Tom is likely to have-- and slower paced too. When I think of improv with these guys, I think of the nuttier scenes in Freakazoid and Manny the Uncanny-- because I haven't seen much of everyone else's improv

  10. ¿how did you worked for the sisten chapel images in the episode Hooked on a ceiling? ¿was it hard? and ¿how did you modified the section "Adam's creation" for "E.T. encounter" ¿did a profesional draw it or a computer effect?

  11. Gee, I wonder who wrote "Hooked On a Ceiling"...

  12. Anonymous,

    Glad you asked!

It was written by Gordon Bressack and Charlie Howell and me.

"Hooked On A Ceiling" is considered one of the best and funniest scripts of the entire series, and is among Steven's favorites.

Steven's other favorite "Animaniacs" segment featuring the Warners is "This Pun for Hire," which was written by... Gordon Bressack and Charlie Howell and me.

So, of course, with all the praise lavished onto these segments and others we've written, we have become legends in our minds.

And we're still waiting for that call to come back and make more cartoon magic!

    Wait!

Is that my cell phone I hear ringing?

    Yes!

    Is this the call?

    Could it be???

    Hello?

    Yes?

    Yes?

    Oh.

    Afraid not.

It's CVS. My ointment prescription is ready.

  13. Glad that ointment was ready. I know that leiderhosen chafes. Funny that Steven's two favorite episodes of Animaniacs include cameos of him.
