ANIMANIACS: The Voice of God

God is not dead.  But the voice of God in two Animaniacs segments has passed away.  

Stage and television actor Malachi Throne, who provided the rich and resonant voice of God in both the Slappy Squirrel cartoon "Guardin' the Garden" and the Hip Hippo segment "Noah's Lark," passed away on March 13 at the age of 84.  

 

Mr. Throne's acting career spanned 60 years and he appeared in over 100 TV series, including the original "Batman," "Star Trek," "The Outer Limits"...

..."Hogan's Heroes," "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,"  "I Spy," "The Wild Wild West,"  "Mannix," "Mission: Impossible," "Hawaii Five-O"...

 



..."The Rockford Files," and "Law and Order," to name just a few, and he had recurring roles on "Ben Casey" and "To Catch A Thief."

Animaniacs Pose Sheet by Dan Haskett

Here's an Animaniacs pose sheet of Wakko and Dot by Dan Haskett, one of the great animation artists who worked on the series. 

This batch of drawings comes from 1992, a year before the series aired, when Wakko did not yet have the whiskers added to his cheeks.  Dan joined other huge talents like Rich Arons, Ken Boyer, Lynn Naylor, Barry Caldwell, Alfred Gimeno and many others to bring life to the early inspirational drawings of Yakko, Wakko and Dot and the other Animaniacs cast members.

Pinky & the Brain Boy

In 1963, Dell published a short-lived series of comic books starring a flying semi-superhero entitled "Brain Boy."  It lasted six issues.  In its final issue -- according to its cover page -- Brain Boy encountered "A Fantastic Scheme To Conquer The Earth..."   

This scheme, and this comic book series, should not be confused with a certain mouse who has a similar name, and similar fantastic schemes and goals.
